Hi, everyone --

It was so much fun hearing from you all the last time I asked for input, so I decided to do it again!

First -- we will work Mozart and Berlioz especially this week, plus reading through the holiday piece and using leftover time on Haydn

Second -- I'd like a quick yea/nay or thumb's-up/thumb's-down for the idea of adding the Haydn third movement to our December program.

I'd be willing to go by mass majority or electoral college.

Hello, folks.  This was offered to me but I don't have the time (and am so out of practice!).  The Castleton State Collegiate Chorale needs another violinist in accompanying its upcoming concert.  Sounds like it will be a wonderful event -- note it includes Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, which we did at some point, right?.  Contact Sherrill Blodget, Director of Choral Activities -- phone numbers below, and her email would be Sherrill.Blodget at castleton.edu.  If you know of anyone else that might be interested, please pass along.

I'm late in getting post-cards out this year to let instrumentalists know
about the annual Messiah sing. If you can pass this message on to others,
I'd really appreciate it -- if there are mailing lists for the various
ensembles in the area, it would be wonderful if you could forward this to

people know people's names & emails, if they don't mind; as you see, I

We're set for 2:00pm on Sunday, Dec. 21 at the Middlebury Congregational
Church. Just a reminder that the orchestration is for strings, oboes (or
flutes reading the oboe parts), bassoon, trumpets (scored in C). I'd love
to get an email from those planning to play, or leave a message at
443-5811 (my office number).

If anyone would like a score beforehand, please provide information with
your instrument, name, address, town & zip so I can mail you a copy, phone
(or arrange for pick-up/delivery). A listing of the numbers we usually
sing and play at the reading can be found at

Annual Messiah Sing. It helps at the reading to bring a music stand and to
arrive around 1:45 to get situated.

Last year we had a small turn-out due to the big snowstorm, yet it was
still a delightful event. This year, I hope the weather will be more
inviting, and we will have a great afternoon of community music-making.
